Pay A Living Wage

Current UK economy is booming if you listen to those in power, but it is strange when the big story of the day, is that 2 million workers are being paid less than a living wage. The UK government has a basic duty to provide legislation, to stop businesses paying less than a living wage and putting people, effectively in the position where payday loans and credit cards, become the only way they can live month to month. But this is unlikely as the main culprits are local government councils and the workers in the care and community services industries.

We Are Not Monkeys!

We Are Not Monkeys!

The story is that local councils have just offered a 1% pay increase to these workers after 3 years of pay freeze, now if the council does it , not a good incentive for local businesses given the taxes they pay, to increase private workers pay!

Minimum does not mean Minimum

Now you may not know but the minimum wage is actually less than the Considered Living Wage minimum, Now I am pretty good at maths and logic tells me anyone paying wages less than the minimum wage is breaking basic human rights law, and I am sure there are millions more well under the poverty line because of it. Minimum wage is £5.60 per hour in the UK for those over 18 years of age, and the living wage is calculated at £7.60 per hour, so how on earth are people supposed to exist on a minimum wage , being £2 short of basic living costs where does 2 million and what is the point of a minimum wage?
